GOOD WORKS COMMITTEE - 2009 United Way Day of Caring and the Mary Rigg Center Food Drive. *****Be sure to check out the Good Works section on the left menu tab for additional Good Works activity.*****
On Friday, August 28, 2009, 13 people made up of CPCU members and insurance professionals volunteered their time and energy at the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center near downtown Indianapolis. Our participation was part of the United Way Day of Caring and the Mary Rigg Center made this day a food drive collection day from local individuals and businesses. Our group sorted food as it came in & moved it upstairs to the pantry. Prior to the event, the CPCU chapter held a food drive and was able to collect a large amount of food to donate as well. At the beginning of the day, the pantry was pretty bare but by the time we left, it was stocked full of food and personal care products!
