The Central Indiana Chapter, CPCU 2011 Rising Star award was presented to Jackie Zuerner. Ms. Zuerner works at Liberty Mutual and received her CPCU designation in 2010. This year, she became involved with the Chapter’s I-Day Committee working on the I-Day slide show presentation, creating the I-Day video promoting the CPCU designation and the Chapter and developing the online evaluation for I-Day. Her thoughts and suggestions have brought new and fresh views to the committee and her creativity has been outstanding. She also has volunteered to serve as a mentor for students taking the Chapter’s CPCU classes. And, as the newest member of the Chapter’s Technology Committee, she will help maintain the Chapter’s web site.
The Mark Gray Award was established to recognize Central Indiana Chapter, CPCU members who demonstrate an ongoing and unwavering commitment to the Chapter, the CPCU Society and to the industry overall. This award was named for a founding member of the Chapter over 60 years ago, the late, Mark Gray. Recipients of this award are members who embrace, practice and promote the ideals of the CPCU Society and the CPCU designation. The Chapter likens it to its Hall of Fame. The 2011 Mark Gray Award recipient was George Geders. Mr. Geders is a Product Design Specialist at FCCI Insurance Group, and he received his CPCU designation in 1983. Since that time, he has served in almost every capacity in the Central Indiana Chapter, including tenure as the Chapter president from 2002 to 2003. He was the Chapter’s Member of the Year Recipient in 2006. He is a long standing committee chair of the Chapter’s Speakers Bureau Committee. Mr. Geders served for many years as the Chapter’s Technology Committee Chair and generously gave his time to serve as the Chapter’s webmaster. He has been involved as a member of the I-Day Committee and he is personally responsible for creating the slide show presentation that has been enjoyed at the I-Day Conferment Luncheon over the past several years. He has served as the Chapter’s Champions Committee Chair for the past two years and was involved in the development of the newly created committee. He stepped up to the challenge of call for service on national committees when he was selected as one of the first members of the CPCU Society’s Champions Advisory Committee. He is a true Champion of the CPCU designation, the Chapter and the CPCU Society. He embodies the role of a CPCU Champion because he always encourages individuals to get involved and stay active to help make the Chapter stronger and better. He has a gift for spotting great talent and giving them the needed tools to succeed in Chapter leadership as he has done so for many years.
